Team DALE Solution Spaces

Our solution spaces allow us to interact, collaborate, and crowd-source answers to questions, respond in small teams to requests for assistance, engage in "great debates", build our community, and together tell the stories of local energy in jurisdictions and communities around the world. Members can join any space, invite other members to join, or simply view and contribute posts without joining. Ideally, each space should have one or more moderators.

Relevant Use Cases

We can associate relevant local energy use cases with the space to connect to other aspects of our knowledge base

>> Spaces: Crowd-Source Answers to Useful Questions (click to view active list)

Here is where we can pose and crowd-source answers to questions that would be of significance and value to others. That is, questions which are widely asked but answers are not readily available or visible (what are such questions?). Once we have answered a question, such as by structured pointing to selected web resources, we can close the space and permanently display the question and answer in our knowledge base, and also revisit it in the future if needed.

>> Spaces: Respond to Requests for Hands-On Assistance (click to view active list)

Here is where we can post requests for hands-on assistance from anyone, members or non-members, and create small teams to respond to those requests. Some requests may be suited for just one person to respond. Team members can set agreed and scoped limits collectively or individually. Reequests should be designed to help understand, initiate, develop, champion, or advocate for local energy. Requests should explain the situation or background and be modest in scope. "Hands-on assistance" does not mean professional consulting, nor does it mean the equivalent of a single written response on a forum board. Rather, perhaps some interaction, some simple one-time guidance, or walking through some items in our knowledge base, or perhaps following a process or project for an extended period and providing feedback at various milestones. (And it remains a quite open issue for Team DALE what we want "hands-on assistance" to mean. And if our assistance leads to recommendations for commercial services, we need to safeguard against conflicts of interest.)

>> Spaces: Develop and Share Stories of Local Energy (click to view active list)

Here is where members can communicate about local energy stories they themselves are developing, or stories of others that need telling and documenting. Stories can include writings, video interviews, collections of social media posts and "web stories", etc. Members in this space can seek collaboration or guidance from other members, get feedback, solicit content, etc. Once we have developed a local story, we can add it to our knowledge base and connect it to the bigger regional or global story, and also differentiate it from other local stories so that others can learn from and be inspired by the most relevant stories to their circumstances.

>> Spaces: Engage in a "Great Debate" (click to view active list)

Here is where we can engage with some really "great debates" of our day related to local energy. There are likely no clear-cut answers but both sides of an issue can be debated and laid out clearly. We can then capture our debate in our knowledge base and bring it to policy-makers, advocates, and others. The debate should be framed and conducted so that the final result can provide insight to policy, business strategy, organizing strategy, or other forms of decision-making. Each completed debate can always be revisited in the future.

>> Spaces: Build Team DALE (click to view active list)

Here is where we can discuss and collaborate on our own development. There are many topics possible, including long-term strategy, short-term priority actions, fostering team work, facilitation of our "solution spaces", connections to those working in the local energy space, website development, mobile platform development, membership, member rewards, member engagement and benefits, social media engagement, etc. And also of course the twin issues of long-term governance and funding, including business models that might extend in some way beyond all-volunteer.
